Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Nickolay Mladenov today expressed his concern at reports coming out of the Baghdadi area of Anbar Province.
"We have information that a substantial number of civilians may have been kidnapped or killed by the so called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)," Mr. Mladenov said.
"Such reports illustrate the continuing brutality of ISIL and its total disregard of international humanitarian and human rights law and respect for the principles of civilized peoples," the SRSG added
"I call on the Government of Iraq and the international community to do all they can to liberate the area from ISIL and to alleviate the suffering of the people of Baghdadi district," Mr. Mladenov further added. /End/
