Former governor of Diyala survives assassination attempt in Baghdad

(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, former governor of Diyala Omar Humairi’s office announced that a security force was able to foil an attempt to assassinate him as he left the Rusafa Court in Baghdad.

Humairi’s office said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “A force of Baghdad Operations Command and the Interior Ministry was able today to foil an attempt to assassinate the former governor of Diyala, Omar Humairi.”

“The operation was carried out by an armed group when Humairi left Rusafa Court in Baghdad,” the office added.
